Meghan Markle and Prince Harry invited King Charles to their daughter’s christening but the monarch did not attend the event.

Royal author Omid Scobie writes in his new book Endgame that the King turned down the invite due to a “scheduling conflict”.

Lilibet’s princess title was announced just days later in a statement confirming she had been christened.

The statement from a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry said: “I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor.”

Scobie claimed in Endgame that King Charles’s delay in granting Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet their Royal Family titles still hurts Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

The royal author claimed that King Charles delayed giving Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2, the titles of prince and princess for six months.

Scobie claims that the King told Prince Harry he would make the titles official in early 2023.

A friend of the Sussexes told Scobie that the couple “see the way their children are treated differently” to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, which is “hard to feel comfortable with”.
