Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a statement through their Archewell Foundation on Friday, highlighting the importance of providing safe spaces for children impacted by emergencies.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also appeared in a new video supporting Project:Camp LA, a non-profit organisation providing day camps for children affected by disasters.

The couple’s involvement comes as they support relief efforts following recent Los Angeles wildfires, with Harry set to host the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver.

Through their Archewell Foundation statement, the couple emphasised: “When communities around the world are struck with disaster, children need more than just shelter—they need stability, support, and the space to play.”

The statement highlighted Project:Camp’s role in providing free, trauma-informed day camps during emergencies, with trained counsellors ensuring children have safe spaces to heal.

The initiative specifically supported families displaced by the Palisades and Eaton Canyon fires in Los Angeles, with Project:Camp hosting activities at Santa Barbara Zoo.

In the newly released video, the Duchess of Sussex was captured playing Jenga with children at the camp activities.

Prince Harry was also shown sitting with staff members and children during the event at Santa Barbara Zoo.

Project:Camp expressed gratitude for the support, stating: “This past week we hosted camp at Santa Barbara Zoo for kids impacted by the Los Angeles fires.

“We want to thank SB County Dept. of Behavioral Wellness and the Archewell Foundation for their support in ensuring these kids have a place to heal, reflect and play.”

Prince Harry is set to fly to Vancouver to host the 2025 Invictus Games, which begin on Saturday.

The Games serve as a sporting tournament for sick or injured military personnel.
