With only a few days to go until Christmas, Matalan has recalled a series of Christmas decorations due to them imposing a “risk of choking.”
The products join another Matalan product recently recalled for presenting risks of cuts and injuries.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) stated that all of the products did not meet the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
All of the products have been recalled by the end user.

The OPSS said for the doughnuts, gingerbread, ice lolly and sweets decorations: “The product presents a risk of choking as small parts can easily detach from the decoration.”
All of the products do not meet the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 or the requirements of the Food Imitations (Safety) Regulations 1989 (FISR), apart from the gingerbread which passed the FISR.
The stripe tree: “Presents a risk of choking as it has been identified that the tree can come apart and produce small parts. This may cause a person to choke if the small part is placed in the mouth,” said the OPSS.
The recall of the products has been notified by the Local Authority Trading Standards.
