Manchester United have finally completed the signing of highly-rated Arsenal striker Chido Obi-Martin, 16, after legal issues held back the striker’s move.

The talented youngster, who confirmed at the end of July he was leaving the Gunners after two years, described the Red Devils as an ‘amazing’ club after his transfer went through on Saturday afternoon.

The forward reportedly turned down more money from abroad to sign for United because he was convinced by the ongoing project at Old Trafford.

Obi-Martin ended last season scoring 32 goals in the Under-18 Premier League, eclipsing the single-season record held by Folarin Balogun.

He took to Instagram today to confirm his move up to Manchester and had some glowing words to say about the 13-time Premier League champions who currently lie in 14th place.

Obi-Martin said: ‘Very happy to sign with this amazing club, time to focus and achieve all my dreams.

‘Thanks to everyone who has helped me get this far.’

Recruitment of top-level academy players has been a primary focus this summer at Man United under their new football leadership team following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s £1.2bn minority investment.

United concluded the Premier League’s five-step process on Friday morning and the players had already completed his medical and signed all documents ahead of this weekend’s confirmation.

In a glittering campaign last season, Obi-Martin went on multiple remarkable scoring runs for the Gunners’ youth outfit – training under former academy product Jack Wilshere in the 2023-24 campaign.

Obi-Martin netted ten times in a 14-3 win against Liverpool, and seven times, in a 9-0 win against Norwich.

The forward’s startling display in the Norwich thrashing, included a 17-minute hat-trick, which came only two weeks after he had scored five in a win against West Ham.
