- The chopsticks were stuck in the 35-year-olds skull for five months after a fight
- The man from Vietnam was rushed to hospital with a life-threatening condition
A Vietnamese man suffering headaches was found to have chopsticks lodged in his skull.
Doctors claim the chopsticks were jammed into the unidentified 35-year-old’s head five months earlier in a fight.
His family told local media that he was ‘injured’ during the drunken brawl and that he was treated at the time.
But he reportedly had no idea that he was stabbed by a pair of chopsticks.
The CT scan of the 35-year-old man’s skull shows chopsticks protruding out of his nose. The lodged chopsticks caused him to experience severe headaches and fluid discharge
The family explained to medics that the chopsticks were stuck up his nose in a fight while he was out drinking
Even doctors missed them when they initially cared for him, according to the daily Dan Tri newspaper.
Cong Luan, another Vietnamese news publisher, reported the man sought medical help after suffering with severe headaches, fluid discharge and vision loss.
Scans done by surgeons at the Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi, Quang Binh province showed he had a ‘foreign object’ inside his skull.
It penetrated through his nose up into his skull, it is claimed.
He also had pneumocephalus, which is the presence of gas or air in the cranium.
It is a life-threatening neurosurgical emergency, normally caused by head trauma.
Although the man was initially baffled to how the chopsticks made their way into his skull, his family later remembered he was involved in a fight around five months ago while he was out drinking.
His family recalled that during the fight he was stabbed in the face by something and was taken to first aid, according to the local paper.
The man’s condition is now stable and he has been discharged from the hospital.
