A magnitude 3.2 earthquake has struck in northern NSW.

The quake was recorded at Barraba, near Armidale, at 3.01am on Tuesday.

Geoscience Australia measured its depth at 10km.

Three people said they felt a tremor and no injuries or damage have been reported.

Australia records around 100 earthquakes of a magnitude three or above each year.
