Losing weight may seem like a difficult task, but with the right knowledge about diet and eating habits, it’s possible to see incredible results.

A dietician spoke exclusively to GB News about how Britons can slim down and shed unnecessary weight. She told slimmers to eradicate sugar from their diets.

This comes as a personal trainer shared how Britons can “shift at least two to three dress sizes” by eliminating an unhealthy ingredient and drink.

Dietician Kimberly Gomer offered some manageable weight loss strategies for people who want to get the weight off – and keep it off.

She told GB News: “Fast results are great but sustainable results are better. Avoid restricting or undereating to achieve faster results [as that] won’t last.

According to the expert, creating the right mealtime habits is essential. Kimberly advised: “Centre meals around protein, healthy fats and vegetables. Be very stingy with carbohydrates and eat only whole, unprocessed foods.”

When it comes to snacking, the dietician advised that this habit should be curtailed. She told slimmers to “stop grazing”. Kimberly advised following “a regular meal pattern of breakfast, lunch and dinner but avoiding snacks in between meals or after dinner”.

“This will calm down insulin and blood sugar spikes and help fat burning get into gear.”

The expert advised avoiding one particular ingredient at all costs. She said: “Avoid sugar like it’s your job. Sugar creates cravings and is found in many forms of processed foods that are both addictive and can stop weight loss in its tracks.”

This goes for “all forms of sugar including honey, agave, organic cane juice, brown rice syrup, molasses, dextrose, and more”.

The expert also advised cooking meals at home rather than eating out. That way, you know exactly what you’re feeding your body.

Kimberly suggested that preparing meals at home “gets rid of temptation and unhealthy ingredients that you don’t know you are getting”. Not only that, it’s cost-effective too.

When cooking, the expert recommended swapping out one ingredient for another. She said: “I have clients who see results in days and feel noticeably leaner when they get rid of processed vegetable seed oils, which inflame the body.

“These include soybean, canola, corn, vegetables, sunflower, safflower, grapeseed, and rice bran. Replace them with avocado or olive oil.”

Another cooking tip, Kimberly told slimmers to “read the ingredient list on food labels”.

She said: “If there is sugar and seed oils along with a list of chemicals and additives, put it back on the shelf or back in the freezer. Instead, choose foods that look the way nature made them.”

The dietician also provided a few weight loss tips regarding beverages. She advised: “Don’t drink liquid calories like shakes, smoothies or coffee drinks. They won’t fill you up and can add up to a big caloric hit.

“Avoid protein bars and protein shakes. They aren’t real foods and won’t give you the nutrient density or satiety like whole foods.”

Aside from following a healthy diet, taking good care of yourself is important if you want to see results.

“Get a good night’s sleep,” Kimberly told slimmers. “Fat loss is dependent on hormones being aligned, and lack of sleep promotes the stress hormone cortisol which can get in the way of fat burning.”

Finally, she told slimmers: “Don’t rely on the scale. Instead, use your clothing as a benchmark for progress.”
