The King called out a blunder during a visit to The Polish Social and Cultural Association (POSK) in Hammersmith today.
He was guided around Europe’s largest Polish community centre and shown inside its art gallery – housing an exhibition by Polish Jewish artist Felix Fabian.
When he spotted a painting depicting a famous Household Division regiment, he noticed the caption was wrong.
“I’m afraid they’re not the Coldstream Guards, they’re the Life Guards,” the King said whilst laughing as he spotted the error.

Taking the mistake in good spirits, he attended a reception two floors above the gallery.
He was introduced to traditional Polish cuisine and met different members of the Polish community in the UK.
Reuniting with a 102-year-old World War Two veteran he met 30 years previously, Edmund Niedzielski reminded His Majesty how he fought on the beaches of Normandy.

Niedzielski remarked what “good memory” the King had, recognising him from the D-Day 80 commemorations in France last year.
Outside, King Charles, 75, joked that a fluffy white pomeranian dog had just been “shampooed”.
This took place during a light-hearted chat with members of the public.

Today’s visit was His Majesty’s first visit to POSK in 15 years and was understood to be a follow-up to his visit to Kraków last week, where he spent time at the Jewish Community Centre – marking 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz.
King Charles became the first British monarch to visit the site of the former Nazi dear camp where 1.1 million people, mainly Jews, were murdered.
His Majesty is expected to continue a relatively busy schedule of duties as he continues his weekly cycle of cancer treatment.
