Prince William and King Charles’s relationship is the “best it has ever been” following the monarch’s cancer diagnosis, a royal commentator has claimed.
In a statement released on Monday, Buckingham Palace confirmed the monarch had been diagnosed and is now being treated for “a form of cancer”.
This follows a recent hospital trip for the King to undergo a “corrective procedure” for a “benign enlarged prostate”.
The King also announced he would be postponing all public-facing duties until he is back to full health. Prince William and Queen Camilla have begun to undertake extra engagements in both the King and Princess Kate’s absences.

Prince William made his first public appearance on Wednesday, where he thanked well-wishers for their support at the London Air Ambulance charity gala dinner.
The Prince of Wales said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all.”
Discussing the fallout of the King’s diagnosis and pressure on Prince William to step up his royal role, commentator Pandora Forsyth said it is William’s priority to “concentrate on Catherine” in her recovery.
Forsyth also shut down calls for King Charles to abdicate and allow William to take the helm, stating he’s got “so much in his calendar already”, that she “doesn’t see how he would step up” and be able to fulfil engagements which are already booked by the rest of the family.

Forsyth told GB News: “I think that Charles does regret slightly from stepping up as King as he’s not been able to push so much about the eco stuff that he obviously is so vocal about, and that is something that he’s very keen on.
“But I think that’s why he’s got William on the phone and he sees him very regularly. They talk so much, their communication is the best it’s ever been.”
Host Mark Dolan agreed, adding: “They have a great relationship, perhaps even better since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex headed off to America.
“It seems to have strengthened their relationship and their bond. He’s got one son that he can rely on.”

Forsyth also expressed concern for the King’s health so early into his reign, admitting it is “worrying” that his diagnosis has come less than two years after he was crowned.
She claimed: “He’s the oldest monarch we’ve ever had. Quite frankly, the fact that we’re now thinking about this not even two years into his reign is quite worrying. I think it’s probably been a complete shock for everybody.”
Mark replied: “Most definitely. This will be a tough time for Queen Camilla as well. Of course, we wish him a speedy recovery, but will it make William think ‘I am going to be King’?
“It’s a terrible thought, but it makes you consider the King’s mortality doesn’t it?”
