Kevin de Bruyne provided a blunt three-word update on his future at Manchester City after starring in the club’s 4-1 victory over West Ham on Saturday.

The Belgian has faced a difficult season plagued by injury but is showing signs of getting back to his best after starting City’s last two Premier League fixtures which have resulted in wins.

City secured back-to-back wins for the first time since October by thumping four goals past the Hammers much to the relief of Pep Guardiola, but further speculation over De Bruyne’s future was raised after the match.

The midfielder’s current contract is set to expire at the end of this season and he has yet to agree a new deal having been at the club for the past nine years.

Saudi Arabian clubs have previously signalled interest in luring De Bruyne to the nation under the guise of what would be an incredible salary hike and De Bruyne is permitted to hold discussions with foreign clubs regarding a potential move this month with no deal yet signed to extend his stay at City.

The reigning Premier League champions are keen to keep De Bruyne in Manchester with him becoming one of the world’s best midfielders during his time at the club and De Bruyne gave a startling update on his future after City’s latest win.

Asked about the progress of contract negotiations with City, De Bruyne told Sky Sports: ‘I don’t care.’

‘I am just trying to get back to my level. I feel like every week I’m getting better. Fitness wise I’m getting better and able to run 90 minutes now.

‘It’s been an uncomfortable couple of months with the injury but I am getting better, performing better and better so that’s it,’ he added.

During his astonishing career at the Etihad, De Bruyne has won six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups and five League Cups.

However, the past 18 months have seen the playmaker plagued by long-term injuries with his latest hamstring complaint seeing him miss 10 matches between September and October.

City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to keep hold of De Bruyne past the end of the season

Meanwhile, Guardiola has recently heaped praise on De Bruyne in an apparent bid to convince him to stay at the club past the end of the season given his importance to City’s success.

Commenting on De Bruyne’s role in his serial title-winning squad, Guardiola explained: ‘I said many times there are no doubts about Kevin when Kevin is fit.

‘He was one of the most impactful players in the history of City and the Premier League.

‘Sometimes he didn’t feel well in the recent past and sometimes he needs physicality to feel good, like everyone.’
