Strictly Come Dancing star Katya Jones has issued a cryptic post which seems to once again show her support for axed tour partner Wynne Evans.

The Go Compare star was let go from the remainder of the tour after he was filmed making inappropriate sexual comments about Janette Manrara, using the demeaning term “spit roast” in reference to a lewd sexual act.

During the time of the incident, it was reported that Manrara’s husband Aljaz Skorjanec asked her if she was “OK”, to which she replied curtly: “Yep.” However, a spokesperson for Manrara claimed she did not hear Evans’ comment.

Despite no complaint being made by Manrara herself, Evans revealed on Monday afternoon that he had come to an agreement with the BBC to step away from the tour.

His statement on Instagram read: “I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection.

“Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”

Evans’ Strictly partner Jones was the first to throw her support behind the star, resharing his statement on her Instagram story and noting: “Let’s show humanity and consideration. I will miss you my darling boy.

In another show of support, she also unfollowed Evans’ ex-girlfriend Liz Brookes after it was reported she was “humiliated” by his behaviour.

According to sources speaking to The Sun, they indicated that the pair had separated before the Strictly Live Tour began and said: “Although she loyally stood by him in public, Liz was humiliated by what happened when he was on Strictly.”

Despite Evans now staying silent, it seems Jones wants people to know she is continuing to support the star and has posted multiple times on her Instagram story.

Last night she posted a selfie in her tour dressing room where a picture of Evans could be seen hanging up in the background.

Her latest move saw the dancer post a cryptic quote on her Instagram story which reads: “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone”.

Jones’s support comes after a friend of the Opera singer claimed he was in a “bad way” and was worrying about his future.

Speaking to The Mirror, a friend of the star claimed: “At the end of the day, he has been a bit of an oaf and made a stupid mistake, but does he deserve such hatred?

“Yes, using the term ‘spit-roast’ was absolutely wrong, and he realises this. His problem is that he is a joker and he continually wants to play to the crowd.

“Jamie Borthwick is his mate and he was laughing and joking, and Katya plays along with the joke too. It’s just schoolboy comedy.

“He is more Jim Davidson than Peter Kay, and if anything, is more guilty of having a terrible sense of humour.”

The friend added: “Talk of his career ending is premature – at the end of the day, his radio show is very popular, and he is very much liked. Everyone hopes he can see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
