Princess Kate has sent a personal message to new England rugby captain Maro Itoje ahead of the nation’s opening Six Nations clash against Ireland on Saturday.
England are travelling to Dublin to face reigning champions Ireland looking to open their Six Nations account with a victory at the Aviva Stadium.
The Princess of Wales said: “Good luck to Steve, Maro and everyone involved with @englandrugby for your opening game of @sixnationsrugby against Ireland.”
Kate released the statement on her social media platforms around an hour before kick-off at the Aviva Stadium.

The game is set to get underway at 4.45pm today.
Princess Kate has been the patron of England’s Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League since February 2022.
She has attended many rugby events, including the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
It was the first redistributed position previously held by Prince Harry, who stepped back from his working royal role with his wife, Meghan Markle, in January 2020.
The Princess of Wales signed of the message with a “C” highlighting that the message was written by her personally.
Kate re-posted a England Rugby message which read: “Ready to represent the (rose)”
The message echoes a similar tweet by Prince William on Friday, who wished the Welsh team good luck ahead of their opening game with France.
He said: “Wishing @welshrugbyunion the very best of luck tonight against France, and throughout @sixnationsrugby! Amdani! 🏉 W”.

Kate has also visited teams across the country, including the England national wheelchair rugby team.
She also attended a Six Nations rugby match between England and Wales in Cardiff with William, back in 2023.
