Jurgen Klopp has paid tribute to US soccer fans with a Fourth of July message that will only fuel speculation about the German possibly taking over the USMNT.

DailyMail.com columnist Tim Howard this week vowed in his exclusive column that he will fly to Spain to persuade the former Liverpool boss to take over – should US Soccer replace Gregg Berhalter.

Berhalter is under huge pressure after the USMNT crashed out of Copa America – just two years out from a home World Cup.

Klopp has not addressed the calls for him to take charge but he did tease fans with a social media message on Thursday.

‘It’s the perfect day to think about my trips with Liverpool to the States… we’ve had a great time & the US fans are electric! Happy 4th of July,’ Klopp wrote alongside a selection of snaps from pre-season tours.

In the pictures, Klopp could be seen training at both Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park, taking selfies with supporters and signing autographs.
