The Bengals have gotten off to a disappointing 0-3 start, but that has nothing to do with Joe Burrow according to an ex-Cincinnati star.

Burrow has 746 passing yards and five touchdowns (with no interceptions) through three weeks, yet his team’s defense has yielded an average of 26.7 points per game.

And in the eyes of former Bengals offensive lineman Willie Anderson, any criticism of Burrow for the team’s struggles thus far is ‘ridiculous.’

‘They’re in these games because of him,’ he told TMZ. ‘It’s just totally ridiculous.’

‘To watch the game [Monday] night and to say that any blame should be put on Joe Burrow [Monday] night when you score 30-something points — it’s just plain ridiculous.’

But former Cincinnati offensive lineman Willie Anderson does not believe Burrow is to blame

Burrow did nothing to hurt his reputation against the Commanders as he tossed 324 yards and three touchdowns.

However, the Bengals gave up 38 points at home to Washington as rookie Jayden Daniels put the league on notice with a stellar performance.

Starting slow is nothing new for the Bengals, as they’ve began each of the last two seasons 0-2 – and recovered from that hole to make the AFC Conference Championship in the 2022 season.

Nonetheless, they now trail the AFC North-leading Steelers by three games in the division.

However, Cincinnati will have a chance to get back on track in the coming weeks with the schedule softening up.

Over the next four games, they’ll play the Panthers (this weekend), Giants and Browns who are a collective 3-6.

The Ravens will pose a tougher test immediately after Carolina.

‘As long as he’s healthy and upright, he’s going to give you a chance to get this thing back on track,’ Anderson said.

The Bengals will visit Carolina at 1pm ET on Sunday looking for their first win of the season.
