Jamie Foxx offered an impassioned defense of LeBron James on Saturday, as the entertainer took to the comment section of an Instagram post to sing the praises of the Lakers star.

James, 40, is still going strong in his 22nd NBA season, with his Lakers third in the West thanks to his 24.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 6.6 assists per night.

And in response to a post from Instagram account ‘lbjhistory’ – which laid out the ‘blueprint’ to criticize the NBA’s all-time leader in points – Foxx took the chance to stick up for James.

Foxx wrote in the replies: ‘If he came up with a cure for cancer, they would say yeah but what about diabetes?’

He added: ‘40,000 points over 20 years of play carrying this bum a** league on his shoulders, ungrateful.’

Foxx also claimed that ‘you have to mention LeBron James name in order to get clicks.’

The remarks come after James blasted the NBA media for how it covers the league.

During All-Star weekend, Anthony Edwards indicated he was not necessarily keen to be the ‘face of the league’ in years to come.

When asked about the Timberwolves star’s opinion, James didn’t blame him for thinking that way.

‘I mean, it’s unfortunate but like, why do you want to be the face of the league when all the people that cover our game and talk about our game on a day-to-day basis s**t on everybody?’ James said. ‘To have that responsibility, it’s just weird. It’s weird energy.’

While James is no longer considered to be the league’s best player, he’s turned back the clock in February, with the Lakers 9-2 in that span.

In those 11 games, James has upped his points average to 29.3 points per night as he’s begun to jell with new teammate Luka Doncic.

The Lakers next game is against the Clippers on Sunday night.
