A new Just Stop Oil movement has joined forces with a controversial pro-Palestinian activist group for a “resistance campaign” ahead of a weekend of action in London.
Palestine Action will join hands with environmental group Youth Demand in what has been dubbed an “unholy alliance” by the Government’s independent adviser on political violence and disruption, Lord Walney.
Lord Walney warned that both groups use “criminal action to coerce and bully the public and decision-makers”.
On its sign-up site, Youth Demand is calling for an “end to genocide”, an “arms embargo on Israel” and an “end to new oil and gas drilling”.
Writing in an Op-Ed for GB News membership readers, Andrew Percy MP wrote: “There is no other way of describing this period than to say that the UK is experiencing an ‘Age of Extremism’. Nobody in this country should be in any doubt about the threat this poses to our nation and to our democratic institutions. It is no hyperbole to say that our democracy is in real peril by what we have seen in recent months.
“This extremism is infiltrating many of our historic and noble institutions, emboldened and inflamed by the Iran-backed terror network that is waging open warfare against our society and our democratic values.
“Rather than push back against this, too many of our citizens seem only too willing to support this assault on our democracy, whilst others act as its useful idiots so possessed are they of a self-hating anti-western uber-progressive warped ideology.”
