Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated his 40th birthday with family and friends on Wednesday, sharing pictures of the party in a touching Instagram post.
The Portuguese icon, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, has shown no signs of retiring anytime soon at Saudi Arabian giants Al-Nassr as he continues to hunt down his remarkable 1,000-career goals target.
Ronaldo admitted upon turning 40 that his friends mock him for having ‘no life’, testament to hours of work he puts in every day to maintain his superb physical condition.
He initially celebrated his landmark birthday in unusual style by donning a pair of £4,000 compression boots at his home in Saudi Arabia, equipment that helps his recovery and optimises his athletic performance.
But the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus star later shared that he celebrated a birthday party with ‘family and friends’, uploading two photographs in a post that has already racked up seven millions likes on Instagram.

In clips circulated on social media of the jubilant night, Ronaldo and Rodriguez were seen sharing an intimate dance before the Portuguese showed off his moves as the group enjoyed a private concert later on.
Among those who reacted to the post were Ronaldo’s former team-mate and ex-Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, who humourously responded with a granddad emoji.
Ronaldo enjoyed celebrating his birthday at Al-Nassr hours earlier, as his club team-mates – including new £65million January signing Jhon Duran – gifted the Portuguese legend a stunning custom-made cake.
In a video posted on X by Al-Nassr, the forward was seen arriving at the club’s training ground being welcomed by his team-mates, who began singing for him.
Ronaldo joined in before being presented with the three-tier cake, which was dressed in Al-Nassr’s colours and covered in pictures of the 40-year-old throughout his glittering career.
The photos included pictures of Ronaldo as a youngster, his early stages at Sporting Lisbon, his time at Man United and, later, at Real Madrid.

And on his landmark birthday, Madrid sent their ‘warmest wishes’ to the club legend and all-time top scorer.
