The value of food is often referred to when seeking ways of reducing blood sugar levels, but what cannot be forgotten is the importance of drinks.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, nutritionist, Dominika Blonska discussed what drinks Britons should incorporate into their diet to stabilise blood sugar levels.
She said: “Maintaining stable blood sugar levels is essential for overall health, energy levels, and preventing insulin resistance.
“By making smart nutrition choices and incorporating simple lifestyle habits, you can naturally regulate your blood sugar and support long-term wellbeing.”
Green tea can help individuals reduce their blood sugar levels

In the morning, blood sugar levels naturally tend to increase sopeople can start their day with ginger or green tea.
Dominika said: “They both contain antioxidants which can help improve glucose metabolism.”
Ginger and green tea have catechins and EGCG which can help improve glycemic control and insulin sensitivity, and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Green tea is not processed at all and it has virtually zero calories so can be very beneficial for those wanting to lose weight too.
Lemon water and apple cider vinegar waterare two other options for individuals to consider.
“Lemon water can help slow down digestion plus regulate blood sugar. Apple cider vinegar water can slow the rate at which the stomach empties, which prevents large blood sugar spikes after eating,” explained Dominika.
Apple cider vinegar water may benefit insulin sensitivity too by moving glucose out of the bloodstream and into the cells. The nutritionist advised to mix one tablespoon of the drink before eating.
The fibre in lemons can help control blood sugar levels and they contain vitamin C which studies said “can play a protective role in the development of type 2 diabetes”. They explained that either taken in supplementation or through a diet change can decrease blood sugar and lipid levels.
