Female pattern baldness is a concern for lots of women and there are many ways to try and combat it.
Hair expert, Moe Harb, spoke exclusively to GB News on how using the correct shampoo and conditioner can help reduce thinning hair.
Moe said: “Thinning hair can be distressing, but there are steps you can take. Start by switching to a gentle, volumising shampoo and a scalp-friendly conditioner.”
Look for biotin, keratin or collagen in the shampoo and conditioner as they can help strengthen each strand of hair.

A gentle, volumising shampoo can help create the appearance of thicker and fuller hair by raising the hair follicles at the scalp. It coats each strand and improves textures.
A scalp-friendly conditioner reduces the breakdown of hair through hydration and stimulates hair follicles. It cleanses the hair and does not strip away natural oils.
As well as this combination, Moe recommended regular scalp massages for just a few minutes a day.
He said: “Regular scalp massages can boost blood flow to the follicles. Some clients of mine also find success with specialised scalp treatments to help promote growth and slow hair loss.”
When washing hair, women should focus on washing techniques. Moe said: “Try using lukewarm to cool water because hot water can strip your scalp’s natural oils, leaving your hair dry and brittle.”
Focus on shampooing the scalp of the head rather than the ends and gently massage the roots to remove any buildup. Let the shampoo run down the strands of the hair before washing it out.
Moe advised: “Over-scrubbing the lengths can lead to unnecessary dryness. Make sure you’re rinsing thoroughly because leftover product can cause scalp irritation and dullness.
“Consistent care, paired with a healthy routine, often leads to noticeably fuller, thicker hair over time.”

Nutrition also plays a key role in hair thickness. Foods rich in protein and iron can support hair growth.
Moe said: “Protein-rich foods like lean meats, fish, eggs, and beans provide the building blocks for keratin which leads to stronger hair. Foods high in iron, such as spinach and lentils, help carry oxygen to the hair follicles.
“Incorporating plenty of vitamins and minerals is just as critical. Biotin and vitamin B complex support hair growth, while vitamin D and zinc are also beneficial.”
Once using the correct products, it is important to know the number of minutes to leave it in for before rinsing for “stronger, shinier hair”.
