TikToker Emily, who goes by Dr Emilly on TikTok, believes that three products become non-negotiable when aiming for glass-like skin in your 50s.
“I do have some non-negotiables for glow, especially if you’re over 50,” she said in a recent clip, naming toner, vitamin C and sunscreen as her go-to’s.
She specified in the caption that these products are the key players in her “morning skin care routine for super-nourished glass skin”.

The tips are particularly effective for darker skin tones, according to Emily, but they’re also applicable for anyone struggling with dry mature skin.
The first step involves spraying thermal water on the face, to introduce moisture to the skin.
Health institutions like Healthline claim that the minerals in thermal water have antioxidant properties that neutralise free radicals.
One way to absorb these skin-nourishing qualities is to soak in a thermal water bath, a practice known as balneotherapy. Alternatively, you can spray the thermal directly onto the skin, as Emily does.
The 54-year-old moves on to toner for the next step of her routine. In another clip, she claimed that the product is essential for glass-like skin after the age of 50.
One of the purposes of toner is to refresh the skin without stripping it of its natural moisture.
It gives the skin a glass-like appearance by removing any dirt or skin cells that may remain on the skin after cleansing.
Another non-negotiable mentioned by Emily is vitamin C, which usually comes in the form of a serum.
Vitamin C is considered a holy grail ingredient in anti-ageing skin care because it reduces the number of sunburn cells.
While it can’t replace sunscreen, it can protect against and repair UV damage, discolouration and fine lines.

The final step in Emily’s routine is a rich moisturiser and SPF, the importance of which cannot be overstated.
When it comes to applying sunscreen, experts recommend using a generous amount at least 15 minutes before sun exposure.
It’s equally important to reapply every two hours or immediately after undergoing intense exercise that causes sweat.
What’s more, be careful not to forget less obvious areas like the ears, the back of the neck, and feet, as sun damage will lead to premature ageing.
