Looking after your health starts with taking care of your body and making sure that any minor problem is checked and seen to.
According to Women’s Health GP at the Harley Street GP clinic, The London General Practice, Dr Elise Dallas, any worries that people have should be dealt with before they turn into something serious.
She tells her clients this is one of the key pillars of longevity is having regular health check-ups, depending on your age and what risk factors may be imposed.
The doctor said: “I recommend appropriate health screenings based on individual risk factors and age. I ensure that I follow the recommended guidelines for screenings myself and make sure to get regular check-ups for blood pressure, cholesterol, and other relevant tests.”

In the winter particularly, the doctor encouraged people to practice proper hygiene practices with the amount of germs in the air.
She said: “I educate patients on proper hygiene practices, including regular handwashing and covering coughs and sneezes. In my practice, I follow strict infection control measures and ensure that I adhere to hygiene protocols in my personal life as well.”
Dr Dallas told her clients that stress is one of the worst factors in people’s lives. To help with longevity, she discusses excellent stress-management techniques.
“I discuss stress reduction techniques with my patients and highlight the importance of finding healthy ways to manage stress. Personally, I engage in activities like meditation, spending time with loved ones, and pursuing hobbies that help me relax and unwind,” said the doctor.
Making sure our bodies are well-energised and rested is another key tip in the stages of a longer life.
Not getting a full eight hours or engaging in proper sleep hygiene to make sure your period of rest is calming can be a hindrance to a longer life.
The doctor added: “I emphasise the significance of adequate sleep and rest to my patients.
“Personally, I prioritise getting enough sleep each night and practice good sleep hygiene, such as avoiding electronic devices before bed and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule.”
The last tip the doctor recommends to her clients is to make sure they are managing their mental health.
She said: “I emphasise the importance of mental health to my patients and discuss strategies for stress management and self-care. I practice what I preach by taking breaks, engaging in activities I enjoy and seeking support when needed.”
The doctor said that she strives to be an example for her clients to help motivate them to take good care of themselves in their own lives.
“By incorporating these preventive measures into my own life, I strive to be an example to my patients. I believe that leading by example is a powerful way to inspire and motivate patients to prioritise their health and wellbeing,” said Dr Dallas.
