Bank branch closures are sweeping the UK with Lloyds, Barclays, Halifax and NatWest among the financial institutions leaving the high street in this month.
Changing consumer habits and decision-making from banking groups has accelerated over 6,000 locations shutting down since 2015, according to Which?.
Some 40 branches are closing this month with many communities being left with no bank in their local area.
NatWest is set to shut down the most branches in July, with 16 set to shut for good.
This is closely followed by Halifax which is closing 12 locations.
Lloyds Bank, Bank of Scotland and Barclays will close seven, four and one branches, respectively.

- Renfrew, Scotland – July 4, 2024.
- Bridge of Weir, Scotland – July 7, 2024.
- Banff, Scotland – July 30, 2024.
There are currently no other Bank of Scotland branches nearby the locations that are closing.
Lloyds Bank

Customers of the bank based in Stone, Ulverston, Saltash, West Drayton and Teignmouth will have to travel slightly further for in-person banking services as there are no nearby Lloyds branches.

Only one branch of the Big Four bank is set to close this month.
