Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic, millions of home workers have been given the luxury of working wherever they want.

Many are even opting to take their laptop to the beach as they really take advantage of their company’s lax remote policies.

For them, the only potential snag is the lack of a charging point to keep their device fully-powered.

But now, Chinese technology giant Lenovo may have an answer – a solar-powered laptop.

The Yoga Solar PC, showed off at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain this week, is lined with small solar panels across the back.

It can absorb and convert enough direct sunlight in 20 minutes to power up to one hour of video playback, according to the firm.

And at 15mm (0.6-inch) thin and weighing just 1.22kg, it’ll leave more than enough room to pack some sunscreen and a beach towel.

While just a proof-of-concept for now, the device could soon allow a fresh legion of remote employees who can ‘work from beach (WFB).

Lenovo says the machine is ‘an important step in realizing Lenovo’s aspiration to empower a future where creating on a PC can be done anywhere’.

‘This innovative concept is engineered for seamless productivity even in changing lighting conditions,’ a spokesperson said.

‘Stay powered longer with the world’s first ultra-slim solar-powered laptop, designed to keep you creating wherever life takes you.’

‘Harness the energy of the sun to extend battery life both indoors and outdoors.’

MailOnline handled the impressive concept device at MWC, which looks like the roof of a house thanks to its stack of panels on the back.

Aside from making life better for the WFB brigade, the Yoga Solar PC could reduce ‘battery anxiety’ and the imminent threat of your laptop losing its juice.

It also relies on a sustainable, renewable form of energy straight from the source, rather than relying on a mains plug.

Also in Barcelona this week, Lenovo has drawn crowds with another impressive concept device –  the ThinkBook ‘Flip’ AI PC.

Almost comic in appearance, this laptop has a screen measuring 18.1 inches vertically – more than a bowling pin or the width of an extra-large pizza.

But the screen also folds backwards across the middle, letting the user share the display with the person across from them.

Lenovo says this quirky design feature and in-built AI assistant makes the device perfect for workplace meetings, enhancing ‘business collaboration’.

At MWC two years ago, it showed off a similar laptop with an extendable screen, which gradually gets taller and taller at the flick of a switch.

MailOnline is covering all the weird and wonderful tech devices unveiled at MWC this week, the famous industry trade show held every year in Barcelona at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, Spain.

Also at MWC this week, Chinese smartphone maker Realme showed off its colour-changing phone that turns from white to blue when temperatures drop.

Another company called Tecno has also showed off the world’s thinnest smartphone, meaning less than the width of a pencil.
