A 78-year-old Derby pensioner has been left feeling “fed up and sick” over persistent fly-tipping outside her Alvaston home.
Jackie Blaney, who has lived on Wilkins Drive for more than 50 years, said she feels embarrassed to have visitors due to the mounting piles of rubbish.

The site has become a dumping ground for unwanted furniture, fridge freezers, mattresses and cardboard.
The situation has become so severe that mattresses can be seen blowing across the road during extreme weather, forcing drivers to stop and move them for safety.
“It’s like coming to Raynesway tip but the tip is cleaner!” Blaney said.
She added that the fly-tipping mainly occurs overnight, despite nearby cameras.
STOP TRASHING BRITAIN:
Derby City Council’s ability to address the issue is limited as the site is on private land managed by Brindley RTM

Derby City Council’s ability to address the issue is limited as the site is on private land managed by Brindley RTM.
“The council have been a great help and they try and try. But because it is private property their hands are tied,” Blaney explained.
Local councillors Alan Graves and Kirk Kus have been supporting Blaney’s case, with meetings taking place to resolve the situation.
However, no clear resolution has emerged, leaving the rubbish in place.
Brindley RTM, which manages the site, says they have reported the issues to the council and provided evidence of fly-tipping, including photos of men in a van dumping waste.

“We have regular issues with illegal fly-tipping with little to no help from the council and or police,” a spokesperson said.
The company showed pictures of the site looking tidy in September and stated they would “look at the area again and look to report to the council or again remove.”
Derby City Council has emphasised its commitment to tackling environmental crime in the area.
“We are committed to tackling environmental crime, which negatively impacts our city and places a financial burden on taxpayers,” a council spokesperson said.
The council confirmed Fixed Penalty Notices have been issued and legal action taken previously.
Residents are urged to report fly-tipping incidents to the Environmental Protection Team on 01332 642020 or via the council’s website, providing as much evidence as possible.
