Four kinds of low-calorie frozen meals have been recalled due to potentially containing ‘wood-like material.’
Virginia-based Nestle USA voluntarily recalled three Lean Cuisine and one Stouffer’s TV dinner this week after the foreign material was found in a ‘limited quantity of batches.’
The recall includes Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry, and Stouffer’s Party Size Chicken Lasagna sold at ‘major US retailers’ between September 2024 and March 2025.
No other Lean Cuisine or Stouffer’s products are affected.
The recall was initiated after customers contacted Nestle USA about the issue.
The FDA said one ‘potential choking incident’ has been reported. The customer’s condition is unknown.

Nestle USA said in a press release: ‘We are actively investigating the source of the wood-like material.
‘We are confident that this is an isolated issue, and we have taken action to address it.’
It’s unclear if the wood material took the form of shavings or pieces or what the exact choking hazard is.
Larger, sharper objects can become lodged in the throat or digestive tract, causing choking or damage to the intestines.

Nestle USA advised customers who have purchased the affected products to not prepare or consume them.
They should instead return the products to the retailer from which they were purchased for a replacement or full refund.
Nestle USA said: ‘We are working with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on this recall and will cooperate with them fully.
‘The quality, safety and integrity of our products remain our number one priority. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers.’
