Spring training had just begun for the Chicago White Sox, yet fans have already declared the end for the upcoming season.

In a 7-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs, one disastrous play embodied the dire state of the club, and their supporters unanimously agreed on what it foreshadows for the team.

Against the Royals, right fielder Oscar Colás attempted to catch a ball as it looked to soar over the fence.

As he leaped and extended his glove, Colás hit the wall after miscalculating his jump. Furthermore, the ball hit him square in the head, knocking his hat off.

After the clip was posted on X, White Sox diehards sang their doom in unison in the comment section.

One fan sarcastically wrote: ‘Didn’t think we could top last year but this year is off to a great start!’

White Sox fans already predicted a turbulent season after Oscar Colás was hit in the head

‘Oh yeah we are so back,’ another declared, while a third said, ‘This season is going to be great.’

‘This will be the whitesox season summed up,’ a fourth wrote with a laughing emoji.

‘The first Sox ‘highlight’ I’ve seen this year so on brand,’ a fifth chimed in.

The White Sox are coming off a dreadful 41-121 season in 2024. Before then, they went 51-101 in 2023 and 81-81 in 2022. Chicago managed to make the playoffs in 2020 and 2021.

However, the glimmer of hope following an 11-year playoff drought turned into more routine disappointment.

After losing to the Cubs and Royals in their first two spring scrimmages, the Sox will face the 0-3 Texas Rangers on Monday afternoon.
