The Western Sydney rugby league fraternity has been left shattered after the sudden death of popular local player Jake Rowe, with former Penrith Panthers star Mark Geyer leading the tributes.
Rowe was a much-loved player for the St Clair Comets, a highly successful rugby league club in the Penrith region west of Sydney.
He died suddenly on Australia Day aged just 32. There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
‘Words can not express the sadness that is felt within the STC family today. Jake Rowe passed away last night and our deepest sympathy and condolences are with Stephen, Sharyn and Tori and both families at this time. RIP Jake,’ the club posted.
NSW Police said that Rowe’s passing was being treated as non-suspicious but as with any unexplained death, a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Geyer’s son Logan is only 30 and worked with Jake in the past, with Geyer sending a heartfelt message to his friends, family and everybody in Western Sydney left reeling by the news.
‘He’s such a character, such a bigger than life kid,’ Geyer said.
’32, that is way too young man.
‘All you can do is pass on your condolences to his family and friends.
‘I’ve got a son who is 30 so it is very sad … a lot of people in the west were in tears.’
Hundreds of tributes have been posted in the wake of the shock death, with plenty of messages of support directed to his father Stephen, mother Sharyn and sister Tori.
‘My deepest condolences to the whole family, words can’t describe what you are feeling, sending love, strength and support during this difficult time,’ one posted.
‘Rest easy Jake hard to believe this has happened , going to miss our random driveway hellos and chats , gone way to soon legend,’ another said.

His sister Tori also posted a tribute after hearing the shocking news.
‘Best brother in the world I love you so much,’ she said.
NRL star Matthew Lodge also posted his message of support for those that knew the young footy star.
‘Rest in peace mate thoughts are with your family,’ he posted.
