Newcastle supporters will arrive at Wembley on Sunday to find 32,000 black-and-white scarves waiting in their seats.

Mail Sport can reveal that Sela, the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor, have arranged for a limited-edition scarf to be placed in the seat of every fan attending the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

The gesture is thought to be one of the biggest of its kind at a single football match. Sela organised for 6,000 Newcastle fans to be given a scarf before the FA Cup win at Sunderland last season.

But this initiative is on a different scale and is sure to create an iconic scene when the teams emerge ahead of kick-off.

Sela have liaised with Wor Flags and all parties are working towards creating what they believe will be a spectacular backdrop to the final.

Sela want to ensure that every Newcastle supporter has a scarf to wave and wear before, during and – if Eddie Howe and his team lift the cup – after the game.

The Magpies have not won a domestic trophy in 70 years and, while they are underdogs against Arne Slot’s Premier League leaders, they will be buoyed by Monday night’s 1-0 win at West Ham.

They will also be backed by a Toon Army intent on playing the 12th man.

Meanwhile, we understand Sela, the Saudi events company who this week launched an international base in London, have another surprise planned in the capital during the build-up to the final, which they will reveal later this week.
