• Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure after a difficult start to the season
  • But, the Manchester United boss hit back at speculation surrounding his job

Under-fire Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hit back at rumours surrounding his job.

Ten Hag has come under increasing pressure in his role after a disappointing start to the season.

United have won just two of their first seven Premier League games, which has left them in 14th place in the Premier League, while they also failed to beat FC Twente and Porto in the Europa League.

But, speaking ahead of United’s clash with Brentford on Saturday, Ten Hag defended his job and hit out at the media.

‘(I’ve had) no assurances about my position,’ he told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

‘Noise is only coming from some of you (media), creating stories and fairytales, bringing lies.

‘We are all one page in this club. I told this before the break, several journalists probably didn’t believe me because I see the reports. Internal in the club it is quiet.

‘Of course, we are unhappy with the position where we are. Ultimately, we are quiet and composed.

‘We stick to the plan and are very convinced it will be a success.’
