Elon Musk’s ex-partner Grimes has issued a stern statement after their son, X Æ A-12, featured prominently alongside the tech mogul in a Oval Office announcement with President Donald Trump.

The 36-year-old singer-songwriter, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, split from the Tesla and X owner in 2021 after a three-year relationship.

The former couple share three children, a daughter, Exa Dark Siderael, and sons Techno Mechanicus and X Æ A-Xii – often referred to as X.

On Tuesday, Musk made his first appearance in the White House’s Oval Office as head of newly created Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE – cheekily referencing one the billionaire’s favourite cryptocurrencies.

Musk appeared alongside Trump, who sat sternly at the iconic Resolute desk, to observe the signing of an executive order giving sweeping powers to the new department.

Playing a constant distraction from the significance of the moment was Musk’s uniquely named five-year-old son.

X was seen sitting on his father’s shoulders, pawing at the desk and occasionally babbling interruptions to Musk.

However, X’s mother Grimes has now revealed she was not made aware her son would be present and was displeased it had gone ahead.

“Lil X was very polite today! You raised him well. He was so cute when he told DJT ‘please forgive me, I need to pee,’” a touched fan wrote to her on Musk’s social media platform, also named X.

He should not be in public like this,” Grimes responded, “I did not see this, thank u for alerting me.” (sic)

She added: “But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”

Later, Grimes expressed a desire for “decorum” to avoid her statements being “used by press or click bait posters on both sides to try to imply things about my ex or something.”

Despite X’s somewhat disruptive antics, Trump signed the executive order.

It gave DOGE the ability to “to eliminate government agencies if it decides their functions aren’t required by law.”

US agencies would not be compelled to work with DOGE, which is committed to reducing government spending and “waste”.

Exempting immigration, law enforcement and public safety, agencies would be compelled to hire “no more than one employee for every four employees that depart from federal service”.
