Terry Smyth Ltd has issued a recall for eight Cape Herb and Spice products across Northern Ireland due to possible plastic contamination.

The affected products include various seasonings and salts, which the company warns may contain pieces of plastic.

“The possible presence of plastic makes these products unsafe to eat,” The Food Standards Agency warned.

The recall includes items with best before dates ranging from September 2026 to May 2027, including popular products such as Seasoned Salt, Extra Bold Peppercorns, and Himalayan Pink Salt.

The Food Standards Agency has confirmed that the presence of plastic pieces makes these products unsafe to eat.

The affected products and their pack sizes are:

Cape Herb and Spice Seasoned Salt (240g), Extra Bold Peppercorns (185g), and Salt & Pepper (310g).

Himalayan Pink Salt (390g) and Sizzling Steak House Seasoning (230g) are also included in the recall.

All affected products have best before dates between September 2026 and May 2027.

The company is displaying point of sale notices in Northern Ireland retail stores to inform customers about the recall.

Customers who have purchased any of these products are advised not to consume them.

The company has announced that affected items can be returned to the store of purchase for a full refund.

The list is completed by Atlantic Sea Salt (380g), Chilli & Garlic (190g), and Rainbow Pepper (175g).
