Collagen, the most abundant protein in the body, has several crucial functions in the skin, such as strengthening, giving it structure, improving hydration and supporting elasticity.
Our collagen production reduces as we age, which causes wrinkles and leads to older-looking skin.
However, these signs of ageing can be prevented by using products that are packed with skin-boosting ingredients.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, Dr Tatiana shared one key vitamin that help keep the skin firm and strong when incorporated into skin care.

Dr Tatiana said: “Using high-quality, clinically proven skin care makes all the difference in achieving long-term skin health. With the right products, you can keep your complexion firm, glowing and protected against premature ageing.”
The doctor recommended using vitamin C as it “protects against damage and boosts skin repair”.
She said: “Vitamin C, particularly in medical-grade L-ascorbic acid, brightens the skin, stimulates collagen and fights free radicals.”
Applying a serum containing vitamin C every morning gives the skin “added protection”.
Dr Tatiana said: “In the morning, start with a cleanser, followed by an antioxidant serum like vitamin C, and then finish with an SPF product. If you are using a moisturiser or eye cream, apply those after your serum.”
Vitamin C can also be found in foods such as oranges, peppers, strawberries and broccoli.
It is also worth looking into skin care products that contain vitamin E, as this may have many skin-boosting benefits too.
Indeed, in an article entitled ‘Vitamin E in dermatology’, published in the National Library of Medicine, experts said: “Topical vitamin E has emerged as a popular treatment for a number of skin disorders owing to its antioxidant properties.” It also protects the skin by acting as a “free-radical scavenger”.
The skin experts at Nivea hailed it as an important ingredient due to its “super moisturising”, “strengthening” and “powerful antioxidant” properties.
Vitamin E is also found in several foods, including almonds, peanuts, avocados and kiwis.
