Deion Sanders’ son, Shedeur, won’t be in the NFL Draft for another year, but the Colorado coach is already thinking about where he wants – and doesn’t want – the quarterback to end up.
After moving with his dad from Jackson State to Colorado, Shedeur impressed in the Pac 12 as he tossed 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and just three interceptions last season.
And with the senior set to enter the draft next spring, ‘Coach Prime’ has expressed his desire for his son to play in warm (or at least moderate) weather.
‘I don’t want my kid going nowhere cold next year,’ he said on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio with Chris Russo, via ProFootballTalk.
‘He grew up in Texas. He played in Jackson [Mississippi] played in Colorado. Season’s over before it gets cold in Colorado. I’m just thinking way ahead. I don’t want that for him.’

Sanders had been discussing the short-term draft future of quarterback Caleb Williams, who is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the draft after starring at USC.
Williams looks set to play for the Chicago Bears after finishing his college career in the sunshine, and Sanders suggested that could be a tough transition.
‘Let me tell you something that I have a problem with,’ he said. ‘And this kid [Williams] can flat out play, I think he’s the best one on the board this year for sure. A kid that’s coming from California for the last couple years, right? And went to Oklahoma.
‘That’s not terribly cold. Chicago’s cold, man. You gotta think about that kind of stuff when you’re taking a young man. Like see, when you take a guy from Ohio State and you bring him to Chicago, OK, I could understand that. But from California to Chicago? Not only that, they added what? One or two more games in the NFL. Seventeen games. Come on, man. You gotta factor in that stuff. That stuff matters.
Wherever he’s drafted, Shedeur will be viewed as a strong prospect if he can put together another impressive season for Colorado.
Williams, meanwhile, is expected to be an immediate starter in the NFL.

Sanders’ remarks come after he advised the recently-retired Jason Kelce to be ‘as controversial’ as he has ever wanted to be on his ‘New Heights’ podcast with younger brother Travis Kelce.
Speaking to a shirtless cutout of Jason on the ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon ‘, Sanders said, ‘Jason, you’ve come to the end of the road baby,’ Sanders started. But guess what? You don’t have to train no more. You don’t have to eat right any more.’
‘You can just let all that go,’ Sanders said pointing to Kelce’s stomach. ‘And I want you to be as controversial as you ever wanted to be on your podcast. I love you, I appreciate you. But baby, it’s time to really be you.’
Sanders’ Colorado squad finished the season with a 4-8 record after beginning the year 3-0.
