With his son Shedeur expected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 draft, Deion Sanders revealed where he does not want him to play in the NFL.
Coach Prime shared he does not want his 22-year-old son to play in a cold city when he steps into the pro ranks.
Shedeur currently plays for Deion at Colorado. In 2023, the Buffaloes’ home games had an average temperature of 59.2 degrees. Their home opener against Nebraska was the warmest at 72 degrees, while their October 13 game against Stanford was the Coldest at 44.
‘I don’t want [Shedeur] going nowhere cold next year,’ Sanders told Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo during a SiriusXM interview, per Pro Football Talk. ‘He grew up in Texas. He played in Jackson [State], played in Colorado. [The] season’s over before it gets cold in Colorado.’
‘I’m just thinking way ahead. I don’t want that for him.’

Sanders went on to mention top draft prospect Caleb Williams. The USC quarterback is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick come April. While Coach Prime said the former Trojan can ‘flat-out play’, he also cautioned that Chicago’s climate could be an adjustment.
Williams started his career in Oklahoma – which Sanders labeled ‘not terribly cold’ – before transferring to USC. Williams, however, played at Gonzaga College High School and grew up in Washington, DC – a place that experiences seasonal temperature drops.
‘When you take a guy from Ohio State, and you bring him to Chicago, OK, I could understand that,’ Sanders reportedly told Russo about the Bears selecting Justin Fields at No. 11 overall in 2021 after his collegiate career with the Buckeyes.
‘But from California to Chicago? Not only that, they added what? One or two more games in the NFL. Seventeen games. Come on, man. You gotta factor in that stuff. That stuff matters.’

Sanders got his fair share of cold and warm temperatures as a player. He played at Florida State in college and had stints in Dallas and San Francisco as a professional. He also played in places prone to cooler temperatures, such as Atlanta, Baltimore, and Washington.
In his first season with the Buffaloes, Shedeur threw for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns.
Colorado started by winning their first three games in 2023 before losing three of their last nine to close the regular season.
