Fallon Sherrock has revealed how she was left ‘shaking’ after an awkward exchange with Prince William when she was awarded her MBE.

Sherrock became an overnight sensation in 2019 when she became the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Darts Championship.

She subsequently went on to reach the third round before losing 4-2 to Chris Dobey.

Her run at the World Darts Championship saw Sherrock nicknamed the ‘Queen of the Palace’ and continued to break new ground for women in darts after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts and was included as a ‘Challenger’ in the 2020 Premier League season.

Sherrock was included on the King’s Birthday Honours list for her contributions to darts, where she was awarded an MBE last year.

Prince William was the one who made Sherrock a Member of the Order of the British Empire back in November.

Sherrock was all smiles as she posed for pictures on the momentous day, but she has now opened up on an awkward exchange with the Prince of Wales.

The 30-year-old called the whole day ‘nerve-racking’ and felt she ’embarrassed’ herself in front of the heir to the British throne.

“I remember getting there and just feeling so nervous about it,” she said.

“Because I didn’t know what to say, didn’t know what to do.

“My feet were killing me from wearing heels all day.

“We were walking miles – I should have worn comfier shoes!”

She added: “I think I was more worried about embarrassing myself.

“Because I know you have like a little chat. I just didn’t wanna say anything stupid.

“But I kind of did a little bit. I didn’t mean to – to William.

“He said obviously that he watches darts on the television, and I literally turned around – so stupid – I turned around: ‘What on the TV? ‘ Like, really stupid and he kind of looked at me and was like: ‘Yes, the television.’

“He just looked at me plain, like, did you just say TV? I was shaking and just like: ‘Hi.'”
