The Cobham graduate was booed onto the pitch by his former fans and he failed to make an impact as he saw his side fall to a late defeat.
Speaking after the match, Palmer couldn’t believe what had happened just moments earlier.
When asked ‘What just happened?’ by TNT Sports, he said: ‘I don’t know!
‘2-0 up. Then like I said last week silly mistakes. Eight minutes added on gave us a lift. Madness.’
‘We need to try and win as many games as possible, and to win like that. There’s nothing better.’
The winger continued to talk through his late goals.
‘When we scored the fans lifted us, we lifted ourselves. The gaffer said there was two minutes left so we thought we’d go for it. Thankfully it’s worked!’
Palmer, who netted two penalties in the match, continued to discuss the pressure on him from the spot.
‘I’ve taken many penalties. I’m not going to miss a penalty am I!? To score in the last minute… It’s just crazy.’
