Liberals in a Southern California town are losing their minds over a local library’s plan to install a controversial MAGA tribute.
A plaque commemorating the Huntington Beach Central Library’s 50th anniversary was approved this week by the City Council, causing a fit among residents, including former NFL star Chris Kluwe, who was arrested and hauled out of a council meeting in handcuffs after an anti-MAGA rant.
The sign features an image of a bald eagle and the names of the city councilmembers, above a message at the bottom featuring a play on President Trump’s Make America Great Again slogan.
It reads: Magical Alluring Galvanizing Adventurous
The sign does mention the original MAGA phrase in small print underneath.
‘Through hope and change our nation has built back better to the golden era of Making America Great Again!’ it says.
The plaque was paid for by private donations, according to council.
Town liberals have called it ‘tacky’ and have threatened to vandalize the plaque, according to The Mercury News.

Kluwe was arrested at the meeting on Tuesday after expression his displeasure toward the sign and MAGA Republicans.
Kluwe, 43, who played for several teams until retiring in 2013, was dragged out of the Huntington Beach council meeting Tuesday night following a rant in which he compared Donald Trump’s MAGA supporters to Nazis.
He told the council that MAGA stands for everything from ‘trying to erase trans people from existence,’ ‘re-segregation and racism,’ ‘censorship and book bans’ to ‘firing air traffic controllers while planes are crashing.’
He also said that they were for firing nuclear arsenal overseers and firing military veterans and cuts to education.
Kluwe spouted that the movement was ‘corrupt, unmistakably antidemocracy, and, most importantly, MAGA is explicitly a Nazi movement.’
He finished by saying: ‘You may have replaced a swastika with a red hat, but that is what it is.’
The ex-player then claimed he was to ‘engage in the time-honored American tradition of peaceful civil disobedience’ and stepped a few feet forward toward the council.
He was then quickly arrested and dragged out by multiple police officers.

Earlier this year, Huntington Beach declared itself a ‘non-sanctuary city’ in a show of support for Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
The move came just two days into his presidency.
Mayor Pat Burns said he is ready to back any efforts by the Trump administration to enforce immigration law.
California is a sanctuary state, meaning it limits is cooperation with federal immigration officials.
‘We need every law enforcement effort, whenever called upon, whether it be fighting terrorists, whether it be fighting purse snatchers, or whatever it is, we have to have every law enforcement tool to best serve our citizens,’ Burns told ABC 7.
Despite the declaration, Burns said he would not instruct his police officers to go hunting for illegal aliens.
‘It’s not meaning that our police are going to go out and look for, patrol, and pull over people for being illegal,’ he said. ‘That’s not our capacity. That’s a federal job.’
The town has been a conservative stronghold for years inside the very blue state.

Tony Strickland, current councilmember and former mayor, claimed the council’s Republican majority was elected to ‘shake things up’ – and ‘we’re doing just that.’
The majority of voters in Huntington Beach are Republicans, though political breakdowns have become more dynamic in recent years as the number of Democrats and Independents increased.
The beachfront city, which is somewhat economically and racially diverse, is comprised of about 60 percent white residents and 20 percent Latino residents.
Though the city government has remained relatively conservative in recent years, there was a brief period in 2021 when the council had a liberal majority.
