Grave fears are held for a pilot and two passengers of a light plane after it crashed on New South Wales’ North Coast.

Emergency services received reports of a crash at McIntyres Airfield on Palmers Island, about 120km north of Coffs Harbour, just before 11:30am on Sunday.

The pilot of the aircraft is feared to have died while two others are being treated by paramedics.

A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said multiple ambulances and a rescue helicopter had been sent to the scene of the crash.

NSW Police are also rushing to the scene while a crew from the Rural Fire Service are providing ‘fire protection’.
