A man has been rushed to hospital after he was stabbed in a random attack outside a Taco Bell in Melbourne.

The man, aged in his 30s, was outside Taco Bell in South Yarra, near the intersection of Chapel Street and Malvern Road on Wednesday when he was attacked.

Just before 8am, the man was approached and stabbed, leaving him with serious injuries to his lower body.

The man was rushed to The Alfred hospital where he remains in a serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have launched a manhunt for the ‘unknown offender’ and are searching the South Yarra and Prahran areas.

One witness, who was at the scene after the stabbing, said there was ‘blood everywhere’.

‘Well there’s about 12 police here, there’s no person, so I’d imagine they’ve been taken to hospital but there’s blood everywhere,’ Debbie told 3AW.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
