The New York Jets are open to trading star wide receiver Davante Adams prior to the start of the league year, with free agency opening on March 12.
Adams’ 2025 contract is worth $38.2million, and with the Jets trying to rebuild at several positions, they have decided the money will be best used elsewhere.
Adams is expected to be released if New York cannot find a partner to deal the receiver in the next 10 days, per Ian Rapoport.
The short time for Adams in New York is thanks to joining Aaron Rodgers in the Big Apple, as he was traded last October from Las Vegas to the Jets.
The team’s 2-6 start was thought to have been aided by Adams’ arrival. The Jets finished 5-12, showing a deeper problem within the organization.
New York has already decided to move on from Rodgers in the future. Now, Adams is on his way out of the Jets organization as well.

Adams became a Jet to reunite with quarterback Aaron Rodgers to salvage their season
Adams and Rodgers were teammates together on the Green Bay Packers from 2014 through 2021 and hoped to have similar success by running it back.
It is unlikely that the duo will be teammates again, as the teams that can afford Adams’ contract are among the franchises not looking for an immediate answer at quarterback.
More to come.
