However, George remains sanguine about his financial situation after undertaking measures to rake in some cash.

The 63-year-old revealed he has already made progress on turning around his fortunes.

“I’m working hard to pay off my debts and am getting there. My advice is don’t sleep with the drummer!” he told The Sun.

The source of much of George’s optimism is his hugely successful stint on Broadway, returning to theatre for the first time in 20 years.

Geroge trod the boards in the starring role of mega-hit musical Moulin Rogue, playing impresario Harold Zidler.

The Karma Chameleon hitmaker sold out three months worth of shows and was asked to return for another run.

He is due to begin a second turn as Zidler on March 28 until May 25.

Another lucrative revenue stream for George has been Culture Club’s return to touring.

The iconic 80’s band is set to tour Europe in the summer, with performances planned in the UK, Germany and Denmark.

George and his band have also been announced as headliners at a number of festivals across the UK – including Tunes in The Park in Cornwall and the Uptown Festival in London later this year.
