Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins has agreed to a new three-year contract in Buffalo – less than half an hour after trolling fans with a fake farewell message.
Dawkins penned what appeared to be a goodbye letter to his team of the last seven years on Monday, hinting at his ‘next chapter’ while claiming it had been ‘good while it lasted’ in Buffalo.
Yet just moments later, the Bills confirmed that they have reached an agreement with the 29-year-old over a new three-year deal, which ESPN’s Adam Schefter understands is worth $60.5million.
Dawkins then wrote on X: ‘Yall are cra[zy] why would ever Leave Buffalo im never leaving guy Im buffalo for life’.

But when confirmation of his new three-year deal shortly followed it became apparent that the 29-year-old was simply trolling fans
He also added: ‘When I said Buffalo is my Home I meant it #LoveYall #BillsMafia #YouAlreadyShnow’.
The Bills also wrote after confirmation of Dawkins’ three-year agreement: ‘Not gonna lie, @DDawkins66 got us too.’
Dawkins was selected by Buffalo in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft and has started 117 of the 123 games he has featured in over the past seven years.
The former Temple college star has also made the Pro Bowl in each of the last three years.
His new contract in Buffalo is expected to make him the fourth highest-paid tackle in the NFL, behind Aaron Donald, Justin Madubuike and Quinnen Williams.
Fans were quick to applaud Dawkins for trolling them with the fake exit post, with one writing: ‘Well played sir, well played.’

His teammate DaQuan Jones also fell for the joke and expressed his confusion on social media
Another put: ‘That was a pretty incredible troll’.
While a third said: ‘He really got everyone with this’.
Dawkins even appeared to catch out his Bills teammate DaQuan Jones, who commented: ‘Bro what???’
The defensive tackle then added after finding out he had been stitched up by his colleague: ‘This man play to much’.
