BBC University Challenge viewers struggled to focus on the show as the behaviour of one contestant drew their attention during Monday’s show.
The latest instalment saw Warwick’s team take on quizzers from Oriel College Cambridge.
Moments into the show, fans were quickly distracted by the peculiar tactic of Hart – who was representing Warwick.
The quizzer was seen looming over his buzzer with his hand poised to press, a bent elbow sticking into the air and a determined expression on his face.
He maintained his readied pose and impassioned demeanour, which one viewer humorously dubbed “The Hart Attack” technique, throughout the show.
Evidently the unusual tactic worked, with Warwick trouncing Oriel College 215 to 110.

Despite the success, viewers were divided on Hart – with some calling him an “instant legend” while others describing his antics as “attention seeking”.
“Hart needs to calm down, that poor buzzer! #Universitychallenge,” one wrote on X.
Another agreed: “Hart my man, chill out on the buzzer #UniversityChallenge.”
“Hart, stop it now, the elbow is really annoying me,” a third irritated fan posted.

A fourth joked: “Looks like Hart has got his thumb superglued to the buzzer. #UniversityChallenge Primed.”
The buzzer strategy appeared to generate some competition within the Warwick team, with Hart’s teammate Siddle appearing to try and one-up his teammate.
“Siddle has caught the buzzer affliction from Hart. It’s just beyond weird now #universitychallenge,” one viewer observed.
“Hart and Siddle seem like they don’t care about being correct, they just want to hit the buzzer before the other!” another argued.
Even still, Hart’s odd quizzing strategy did win him some admirers.
“Hart warms my heart. Siddle needs to stop answering though, he’s ruining Hart’s mojo #universitychallenge,” one wrote.
