Silent Witness aired its season finale on Tuesday, with Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) and Jack Hodgson (David Caves) finally tying the knot.
While the 28th series is now over and was met with strong emotions, the latest instalments have seen a mixed reaction, with some calling for the drama to call it a day after such a long stint. However, the final episode left many fans “sobbing” at the emotional conclusion.
Long-term viewers have been eager to see the forensic pathologists making it official, and the last episode saw the dup preparing for their big day while attempting to solve another case.
The second of the two-part special, which aired on February 4, saw some last minute twists as turns but ended in a happy moment for the couple.
Nikki had been telling Jack she didn’t want a big wedding, so they opted to go for an intimate ceremony with only their team watching on.
The episode sparked more mixed reaction, with many praising the sweet ending while some called for the show to return to its “crime show” genre.

Last year, some fans expressed boredom with the series, blasting its “unrealistic” plots and calling for the show to end.
The series has been celebrated as the world’s longest-running crime drama, and Fox has been the leading lady since taking over from Amanda Burton back in 2004.
However, it seems not all fans are keen for the record-breaking show to keep going.
