The Great British Sewing Bee returned to screens on Wednesday, with the latest episode seeing the remaining contestants battle lingerie week.

However, despite the competition drawing to its end, lots of viewers expressed their disappointment in the series.

It comes as several have made online complaints throughout the series, with many calling for a significant change to the format of the show.

Announcing the first challenge of the latest episode, judge Esme Young explained: “What we want you to make is a pyjama blouse. It’s got flat piping, five buttons and a very neat hem.”

Fellow judge Patrick Grant added: “And we want you to make your own contrast piping, so think carefully about the colour combination.”

While all the sewers struggled in some places, the judges had to rank the pyjama tops, with Suzy coming in last place.

“You’ve had a bit of a disaster with the construction and the piping… Not the best,” Grant critiqued.

Marcus’ design saw was ruled to ‘not be a garment’

Alex, on the other hand, was placed in first place. Next came the transformation challenge, with Grant explaining: “It’s time to shape up or ship out!

“We are giving you shapewear, and we’d like you to combine it with lace to make a garment of your choice.”

Unfortunately, many of the sewers suffered huge blunders during the task, with one failing to meet the standards of the challenge.

“Sadly for Marcus, we decided it wasn’t really a garment,” Grant explained. “So we stuck it at the bottom.”

Marcus was sadly eliminated from the show

Finally, host Kiell Smith-Bynoe detailed the final task, informing the group: “For this week’s made-to-measure, Patrick and Esme have asked you to make a bustier dress.”

Garment of the week went to Pascha, and sadly it was Marcus who was eliminated from the competition, which fans weren’t too surprised about following his transformation challenge disaster.

However, many fans implied they weren’t particularly impressed with any of the contestants this series.

Taking to X, many explained they had expected better creations at this stage in the competition, with one writing: “Every single one of these garments are horrifying and terrible #sewingbee.”

Fans were left disappointed by the series so far

“Well, they are all hideous #sewingbee,” another agreed, with a third admitting: “No one is standing out for me this year, like they have in previous years #SewingBee.”

“#sewingbee 7 weeks in and the garments are terrible. Must be worst series,” another complained.

Another took a brutal jibe by asking: “Has anyone ever made a good outfit on the great british sewing bee? Like genuinely.”

“I love #sewingbee but this year’s batch don’t seem as good as previous years. Week 7 and still loads of mistakes,” another echoed.

However, others disagreed and pointed out some garments they enjoyed, with another sharing: “Alex’s ballet dress is lovely! #SewingBee.” (sic)
