A baby carrier sold through Amazon has been rejected at the UK border and destroyed after being identified as a serious suffocation risk to infants.
The product safety intervention prevented the Landici Hip Seat Baby Carrier from entering the British market.
Safety officials determined the carrier posed a significant risk to babies who cannot yet support their own head.
The product did not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) said: “The product presents a serious risk of suffocation.
“If a child who cannot hold their head up is placed in the baby carrier, their head may drop forward while they face outward, which can close off the child’s airway.
“They may lie with their mouth and nose pressed against the caregiver’s clothing which can block airflow.
“The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.”
Coca-Cola has also been forced into a major recall.
The global drinks brand issued a recall of its drinks in countries across Europe due to the presence of chlorate in its products.
According to the Belgium branch of Coca-Cola’s international bottling and distribution operation, affected products include Coke, Sprite and Appletiser.
Coca-Cola said that five product lines had been shipped to Britain and had already been sold.
