McDonald’s is set to launch its first-ever sweet and sour McFlurry flavour across the UK and Ireland.
The Apple Cake McFlurry will be available in all restaurants from Wednesday, March 26, for a limited time only.
The fast-food giant describes the new dessert as “an apple-solute dream” for McFlurry enthusiasts.
This innovative addition to the McDonald’s menu offers customers the chance to enjoy contrasting flavours in a single dessert experience.
The limited-edition treat will be available nationwide while stocks last, giving dessert lovers a new option to satisfy their sweet tooth.
The new Apple Cake McFlurry consists of soft dairy ice cream swirled with apple and shortcake pieces. It’s finished with a sour apple sauce, creating a unique sweet and sour flavour combination.
The special dessert has been inspired by the upcoming A Minecraft Movie, which will be in cinemas soon.
McDonald’s has designed this limited-edition treat to celebrate the film’s release. It has also launched a Minecraft Movie Meal. This features a Big Mac, nine McNuggets or four Veggie Dippers, your choice of side and drink and an exclusive collectable, designed for adults.
The new McFlurry marks the first time the chain has ventured into sweet and sour territory with its popular ice cream range.
The combination offers customers “the best of both worlds all in one mouthful” according to McDonald’s UK and Ireland.
McDonald’s App users will get exclusive early access to the new dessert 48 hours before its official release. From 11am on Monday, March 24, until 5am on Wednesday, March 26, app customers can purchase the Apple Cake McFlurry before anyone else.
The company encourages customers to “run, don’t walk” to secure the limited-edition treat while stocks last.

For those seeking a savoury option before their sweet dessert, McDonald’s is also launching Cheesy Garlic Bread Dippers on March 26.
These feature mozzarella cheese infused with garlic and chives in a ciabatta-style breadcrumb coating, served with a rich tomato dip. The dippers will be available as four pieces or in a sharebox format.
