Watch the moment Martin Daubney gives a rapturous applause in response to Chelsea Veteran and Britain’s Got Talent winner Colin Thackery breaking into song.
Vackery will be leading the country in song on Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) with a rendition of I Vow to Thee, My Country, and he treated Martin to a preview on GB News.
Reflecting on the “great honour”, Thackery told Martin about being the “rock star of this magnificent day”.
He drew on his experience performing on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, which he won in 2019.

“It’s a bit of a tremendous thing, really. I was 89-years-old when I won the competition, and I’m 95 now”, he said.
“I’ve been given this great honour. I sang this in front of the Queen because I performed at the Royal Variety Performance, and this was the song we did.”

Speaking about the significance of VE Day, he said: “It’s immensely important, as all the remembrance services are.
“We of course have Remembrance Day in November, but there’s are special. I was just a sprog when this happened, I was just a kid.
“I remember the crowds and I remember going down into London to join in and enjoy the festivities.
“All the crowd were waving flags and dancing and having a great time because we’d been at war for a number of years and it was a splendid occasion.

“I am only too pleased to play a part in it now.”
Martin then made the GB News audience aware of Thackery’s service for the country, being deployed in the Korean War.
Thackery proceeded to give People’s Channel viewers a sneak peek of what we can expect at tomorrow’s festivities, much to Martin’s delight.
After the rendition, which you can watch in full above, Martin reacted with joy and broke into applause.
“Oh my God, that was glorious!”, he said. Martin added: “That will be a treat for the entire nation on the 80th anniversary.”
