Slack has gone down across the US, leaving users unable to communicate with colleagues in the middle of a workday.
The company’s status page shows issues hit at 10:27am ET and about 21 minutes later Slack determined ‘a variety of API endpoints, sending/receiving messages, and some threads loading are also impacted.
Slack is used by more than 33 million people to collaborate and communicate at work, but the outage means many businesses may have to put tasks on hold.
It is unknown how many users have been impacted.
The cloud-based messaging platform said it is working on functionality to affected Slack features such as sending messages, workflows, threads and other API-related features.
‘Users may also experience issues when attempting to log-in,’ Slack shared.
‘Thank you for your continued patience as we continue investigating. We’ll be following up with further updates as they become available.’

While businesses that use the platform are likely pausing certain tasks, employees are seeing the outage as a break in the action.
One X user posted: ‘Slack is down. I haven’t felt peace like this in five years.’
While another sees the outage as a sign from above.
‘Slack is down and It’s going to be 59 degrees outside. This is God telling us to touch grass,’ they posted.
Downdetector, a site that monitors online outages, received the most issue reports about the app (60 percent), followed by the server connection (24 percent) and website (16 percent).
And an outage map shows much of the East Coast has been impacted.
