Prince Harry is worried about Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet amid the ongoing security risks members of the Royal Family face, according to Princess Diana’s former butler.
Paul Burrell pointed to an assassination attempt on the Duke of Sussex’s father in 1994 as an example of the threats royals face.
Burrell said: “Being a member of the Royal Family is a threat.
“The threat is huge, there was an assassination attempt on the then Prince Charles in 1994 in Australia which just highlights the risk.

“I think Harry is more worried about his wife and his kids and the risk of kidnapping plots, to be honest, and also the more he does in the public as a celebrity the more he could become a target.
“So of course, he is going to take his security more seriously and this is very important to him.
“Security is a big part of the royal household. They offer security detail the minute they become engaged to a member of the Royal Family and I witnessed that when Catherine became engaged.”

The Duke of Sussex is set to appeal a High Court ruling that upheld the Home Office’s decision to reduce his security protection in the UK following his departure from royal duties in 2020.
Prince Harry no longer receives the same level of police protection automatically granted to the Royal Family following his decision to step back from royal duties and relocate to the United States.
Harry previously contested a 2020 decision by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, claiming he was singled out.

The High Court ruled in March that the decision was neither irrational nor unfair, with the Home Office welcoming the finding.
In June, Judge David Bean granted Harry permission to appeal the ruling, stating “not without hesitation” that his challenge had a real prospect of success.
A friend close to the Duke of Sussex told Hello!: “The goal for Prince Harry is simple.
“He wants to ensure the safety of himself and his family while in the UK so his children can know his home country and so he can help support his patronages and their important work.”
